An opportunity to take time out, reflect and find effective ways to deal with challenges

The HSE role (advisor, officer manager, director) is becoming an even more demanding one. HSE colleagues, in addition to advising, are being called upon to do more and more. And of course, at the end of the day, we are measured on the levels of accidents, incidents and first aid cases.

It’s often difficult to get direct feedback from internal customers – those senior colleagues and those at the “coalface” we are there to serve. Sometimes internal customers’ expectations are based on a false understanding of what we are charged with doing by our organisation.

This day will enable us – as a group of colleagues – to exchange knowledge and ideas in order to:

• 1.identify the main challenges facing us and effective ways of tackling them
• 2.explore ways to add greater value to our organisations
• 3.find ways that could streamline our HSE systems and make them more effective
• 4.make life a little bit more enjoyable and easier for ourselves. (Why not?)

Before we meet, a pre-workshop survey will be circulated and the results analysed in a handout. We’ll use this as a start for the day’s discussions. This is a valuable opportunity to take a day out and reflect and learn from colleagues.
