Inductions are valuable safety tools.
In this half-day you’ll clarify your own ideas on how to make your inductions even more valuable and effective.
Here are some of the topics we’ll cover.
- Think harder about the main messages we want to get across – humans can only take in so much so it is ineffective to swamp them.
- What paperwork do we really need new starts to fill in and how should they do that?
- Enthusiasm – the inductor must have the right attitude and energy and competence.
- Keep DVDs short, simple and on message – cut the “guff”.
- A short talk (3 minutes) for a senior manager?
- Build in some behavioural aspects (fear, concentration)
- Make sure the literature we give people to read is short and to the point.
- Plan the onsite tour – make sure everyone can hear.
- Meet with the senior manager for 10 minutes to reinforce the message.
- If we ask people to fill in something and hand it back – ensure you check that they have handed it back.
