Many OIMs, HSE professionals and other managers
in the oil and gas sector now accept that a behavioural approach
is needed if we are to improve individuals’ abilities to work
even more safely. The trouble is, not many people know how to facilitate
these workshops effectively.
Dr Bill Robb has successfully delivered behavioural change workshops
offshore to a wide range of clients since 1995 and would now like
to share his expertise.
It makes financial and career sense for internal HSE colleagues
to be able to deliver behavioural change workshops themselves and
to assess the content of any workshop offered by outside consultants.
It is also useful for managers to understand the principles of
behavioural change and to be able to ask the right questions and
even conduct part-sessions themselves.
There are six parts to this one-day "How to
... "workshop, namely:
Part 1
Working with people to get the right "bums
on seats".
Part 2
Personal introduction and introduction to the workshop.
Part 3
Building hyperawareness.
Part 4
Discussing with participants the long list of human
tendencies that they themselves have identified as hurting us.
Part 5
Helping people communicate more effectively for
safety.
Part 6
Summary and feedback
A full schedule for the day is shown below. The
lecturing will be minimal and discussion and questioning will be
maximised. Extensive detail will be given on the "hidden aspects"
that make these workshops a success. You'll also hear about the
five biggest mistakes to avoid!
The workshop is a workshop within a workshop because we'll actually
do a shortened workshop to show the process in action. By the end
of the day you will be confident to run your own workshops. A disc
containing electronic copies of guidelines to set up and the handouts
for the 4-hour workshop are included so you can easily amend these
to suit your organisation.
Since the workshops are offered on demand, please register initial
interest by email at Safety@profitimprovers.com or
telephone Dr Robb on +44 (0) 1224 224330
