An Even Better Safety Culture
Finding hidden obstacles to an even greater safety culture - and overcoming them.

Everyone - individuals, assets, sites and organisations - are putting so much effort into safety. However, often there are hidden obstacles to even greater safety that don't come out during traditional training events. Perhaps that's why we still get those frustrating "silly" incidents and accidents.

Now there's a way to meet this challenge - without another initiative, without lengthy, time consuming 80-question surveys, and minimum bureaucracy.

The Profit Improver's An Even Better Safety Culture can, in one day, expose in a non-threatening way those hidden obstacles AND ALSO prepare an action plan to overcome them. Some of the obstacles can be cleared up immediately but others take some detailed discussion with others in the organisation.

Sustained improvement comes from lots of little 5% improvements on multiple fronts. But we first have to identify the fronts and prepare the plan.

Here's how these Workshops operate

  1. A Profit Improver's facilitator meets or telephones the relevant manager of rig, platform or site, to arrange a venue (onshore or offshore) and date.
  2. The manager writes to each participant about ten days before the event explaining objectives and asks him/her to email, fax or freepost to the facilitator a completed pre-workshop sheet. This sheet asks each participant to list at least six obstacles, which if overcome, would improve safety even more. Confidentiality is assured.
  3. All the responses are analysed and grouped into similar categories.
  4. During the workshop the facilitator assists the participants to:
    1. identify the most serious obstacles to even better safety
    2. find ways to overcome these obstacles
    3. prepare an action plan with agreed personal tasks, deadlines and measures of success.
  5. A "wash-up" session is arranged (by visit or by conference call) for about six weeks after the workshop. This motivates and is an opportunity to review progress and refine actions.
